Halloween ‘Trick or Treat’ ideas fit for all (including those with food allergies)

With Summer over and Autumn now in full swing, we look forward to the next big calendar event (no not the C-word), Halloween!  With very excited children, already planning their dress-up costume, it’s best we get organised too!  For allergy parents like me, this time of year can be a little worrying.  We want to ensure our kiddies get to experience the joy and fun that comes with ‘trick or treating’ but collecting chocolate and treats from strangers houses can put them at risk of allergic reactions. (As you know my eldest has a nut allergy and my youngest a cows milk protein allergy).

No to Halloween Chocolates

Being inspired by the Teal Pumpkin project, I thought I would put together a list of Allergy-Friendly Trick or Treat Options for Halloween allowing all kiddies to be included. Let’s be inclusive and allergy aware!  (If you are keen to find out more about  ‘The Teal pumpkin project’ – Click here)

Side note – Please consider the plastic!

Lately, I’ve been thinking more and more about our planet and the amount of single-use plastic items that get thrown away. So whilst there are a lot of small plastic Allergy-Friendly Trick or Treat Options for Halloween that I could recommend giving instead of confectionary,  I’m going to steer away from those and instead suggest things that can be used over and over with no chance of breaking within two seconds or that can be recycled! Too many end up in the bin/landfill –  It’s likely that we’ve all got a drawer full of broken plastic toys! I know I have!

I’ve suggested items that are small token gifts (which is what Halloween should be all about), which are easy on the purse and which I think little ones will be happy to take home.  I genuinely believe my boys (aged 6, 4 and almost 2) would happily receive any of these.
