How to wear Gingham

This weeks ‘Style Edit’ is all about ‘Gingham.’ With Summer here (apparently), I thought I’d share ‘How to wear Gingham’ as it’s a firm favourite amongst the fashion brands this season.

Gingham has long been a popular print, dating back to the 17th Century! Not to be confused with ‘Plaid’ (which is more of a tartan type pattern), Gingham is identified as a contrasting check pattern, normally a colour alternated with white. Most commonly seen as red and white, black and white or blue and white, this summer there are a number of variants available from pretty pale pink and white to summery yellow and white.

Whether you opt for a pair of ruffled gingham shorts or go all-out in a gingham two-piece, I’m sure you will agree it’s a fab print and so easy to wear.

Styling a Gingham Dress

I opted for a 3/4 sleeved, V-neck short gingham dress a few months back from H&M. It is a really versatile number as it can be dressed up or down. (See how I’ve styled it three different ways below; one smart, one edgy, and the other casual.) The gingham print seems to be a recurrent trend that returns year on year.

You will certainly be seeing me wearing mine in winter with tights and boots.
