Recipe | Simple Dairy free tomato, chicken and veg pasta – perfect for weaning

Cooking meals for little ones with a dairy allergy can be stressful. It’s often hard enough thinking of new dishes to serve without the added stress of having to make sure its dairy free. Here is a simple dairy free pasta perfect for weaning. It’s perfect for those little hands and hungry mouths! It’s also tasty enough so your other children (who perhaps aren’t allergic to dairy) can enjoy it too.

My little ones love it and it takes no time at all!

Simple Dairy free tomato, chicken and veg pasta

Ingredients

Dairy free pasta perfect for weaning

  • a handful of your chosen pasta
  • approx two dessert spoons of sweetcorn
  • approx one dessert spoon of peas
  • approx four dessert spoons of chopped tinned tomatoes and sauce
  • a pea-sized amount of garlic paste
  • a pinch dried oregano
  • a pinch dried basil
  • a splash or two of alternative dairy-free cream (Alpro soya or oatly I find are best)
  • chicken mini fillets x 1 (also works well with ham)
  • dairy-free cheese of your choice (for grating on at the end) (Read my 5 must have dairy free food staples to see which dairy-free cheese I prefer to use)

The amount of each ingredient will depend on how many kiddies you are catering for. The above is for one serving however I often make more and then save some for lunch the next day.

Method

To make this simple dairy-free pasta for your little ones simply:

  1. Boil the pasta for the required amount of time in a pan
  2. Add the mini chicken fillet to a frying pan and cook for a few minutes on each side.
  3. Add the tinned tomatoes, sweetcorn, peas, garlic paste, herbs and alternative cream to the frying pan and simmer until the chicken is fully cooked.
  4. Once cooked, add the pasta to the pan and stir to combine the sauce with the pasta. Chop the chicken up into bite-sized pieces
  5. grate the dairy-free cheese on top to serve.

A great dairy free pasta recipe perfect for weaning and for adding a bit of extra calcium to your child’s diet (from the alternative soya/oat cream and the dairy-free cheese depending which brand you buy and how much you add). Ensuring your little ones get enough calcium is really important especially when they are living on a dairy-free diet.

Enjoy!
