If your skin is crying out for some TLC and you fancy treating yourself to some high-quality skincare that is formulated without irritating parabens, phenoxyethanol, paraffin oil or sulphates, which is vegan friendly and naturally derived, let me introduce you to Typology!I Read on to see my 3 favourite skincare products for dry, sensitive skin by french brand, Typology.
I was asked a few months back to try some product by Typology. Those that have followed me for a while on here or on my Instagram will know that I don’t often change up my skincare as when my skin is behaving (after years of eczema and then going through Topical steroid withdrawal) I’m very much of the mindset that ‘if it ain broke, don’t fix it’. That said, after having a look into Typolgy’s product range, company and after completing their online skin diagnostic analysis, I was really excited to give it a whirl.

About Typology
Typology, a french skincare brand offer a whole host of skincare which is naturally derived and made using high-quality ingredients.
Their philosophy is simple. They are not here to stand out by adding anything to their products. Quite the opposite. Instead, they scale back and distil each formula down to the most essential, natural active ingredients that they can, making their formulas simple, very considered and yet extremely effective.
“Typology was born from a mission: to demystify skincare with simple, straight-talking transparency. We make naturally active, effective and sustainable skincare in France.” – Typology

What Typology skincare products will suit my skin?
Typology is keen to ensure you get skincare suited to you and your skin therefore they offer an online Diagnostic analysis that pinpoints your problem areas and your skin type and then matches specific products to you and your skin. Such a great tool at identifying problem areas.
I have dry, sensitive, allergy/eczema-prone skin, what Typology skincare products do I need?
‘According to the Diagnostic test online, I was AE(-) as my concerns were ‘dehydration’, ‘irritant redness’ and ‘dry patches’. As a result, I was sent the following skincare products to try; all of which had been selected for my specific skin type.
- Organic orange blossom Hydrolate
- Wheat derived Hyaluronic acid 3% + B5 2% Serum
- Nourishing moisturiser 1% Hyalaronic Acid with Shea Butter
- 7-ingredient Make-up remover/Cleansing Oil
- Hydrating Cleansing Bar with Palmarosa
- Organic Macerated Carrot oil

My thoughts on the Typology skincare
You will know by now that when I try something new, I like to use it and give it a good go before I share it with my Instagram followers or review it on my blog. I want to make sure it is worth sharing and that it lives up to it’s reputation as I know how important finding the right skincare is for those with reactive and problematic skin.
What I can honestly say about Typology is that I genuinely LOVE their products.
When I received the package through the post, my first thoughts were ‘how lovely the packaging was’ and ‘how luxury and high-end the products looked.’ They really consider their packaging and the effect it has on the environment therefore use recyclable materials, and packaging that is kinder to the environment.
“We do our best to leave no trace of our products or brand in the environment. At every step of the production process, we use recyclable materials and sustainable transport.”
Typology
The bottles are flat too, making them fit in smaller packages which means they can fit through most letterboxes which is a great great way to help lower their carbon footprint. the bigger.
Trying Typology skincare
Before diving straight in and using all the products, I ‘aired on the side of caution’ (given my skins history with TSW and also how sensitive my skin is) and decided to use one product at a time for a week or so to ensure my skin could tolerate it and to allow me to pinpoint which product, (if any) caused any irritation. Needless to say, all the products have been absolutely brilliant for my skin and have caused zero irritation!!!
My 3 favourite skincare products for dry, sensitive skin by Typology
I thought I’d share my 3 favourite skincare products by Typology for dry sensitive skin. Here goes…
#1. Wheat derived Hyaluronic acid 3% + B5 2% Serum
Their plant-based Hyaluronic Acid is by far my favourite product (of those I’ve tried so far). I’ve tried other Hyaluronic serums but this one is by far the best. Applied on clean damp skin, the thick consistency glides onto the skin and sinks away. I followed this up immediately with my moisturiser, locking in the moisture to get the best results. Having used this for well over a month, my skin definitely feels much more hydrated and plump so this comes highly recommended by me.
Plumping Serum
3% Hyaluronic Acid + 2% B5 | £21.90
Derived from fermented wheat, this molecule is known for it’s hydrating prowess. It can hold up to a thousand times it’s weight in water, making it a powerful skincare ingredient for instant hydration.
#2. 7-ingredient Make-up remover/Cleansing Oil
This cleansing oil has been exactly what I’ve needed. Since my skin has improved (Post TSW) I’ve been wearing make-up again (YAY!) and therefore needed something to remove it all properly without using too much water (which can be drying). This simple and clean cleanser is made using only 7 ingredients!
- 1. Sweet almond oil: Which nourishes and improves the elasticity of the skin. It helps to calm skin and reduce tightness with it’s calming properties.
- 2. Sunflower seed oil: rich in antioxidants this oil protects the skin against free radicals while nourishing and cleansing the skin.
- 3. Caprylic/Capric triglyceride: derived from coconut, this ingredient facilitates makeup removal and leaves skin feeling soft.
- 4. Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate: an emulsifier derived from coconut that allows the product to rinse off easily.
- 5. Isopropyl isostearate: derived from rapeseed, this ingredient facilitates the removal of makeup particles.
- 6. Vitamin E: an antioxidant to preserve the oils in this formula and prevent them from going off over time.
- 7. Sunflower seed hybrid oil: used as a solvent, this seed oil nourishes the skin and also facilitates makeup removal.

The oily texture allows you to easily remove make-up without having to scrub harshly which can often upset the skin’s barrier. After using the oil and all my make-up has been removed, (using a cotton pad or cloth) I gently rinse the oil off with water leaving my face super fresh and thoroughly clean. It’s suitable for the most sensitive skin, is vegan, fragrance-free and 99% naturally derived. I love it and will be rebuying it when it runs out!
#3. Nourishing moisturiser 1% Hyalaronic Acid with Shea Butter
The 1% Hyularonic moisturise with shea butter is another of my favourites. It’s a lightweight, non-greasy, active-rich moisturiser that helps to restore suppleness and give relief to dry, tight skin as well as helping to repair the all-important protective hydrolipidic film barrier. I use this after the serum (above) helping to lock in the moisture. It’s 98% naturally derived and despite being fragrance-free, has a really lovely scent. It contains squalane (derived from olives) that has a structure that’s very similar to the skin which helps it easily and deeply penetrate and deliver nourishment. The only thing I’d say that could be changed/improved with this moisturiser is the lid on the tube. The tube is made from lightweight aluminium due to it’s durable properties (as well as it is airtight and one of the only materials that can be recycled repeatedly without losing its quality) however due to the consistency of the moisturiser and the small lid, it is often hard to reseal the lid properly as the product can leak out. A minor tweak but a fabulous product.
My thoughts on the other Typology skincare products
The other three items that I tried were also lovely (I just had to pick three faves!) The Hydrating Cleansing Bar with Palmarosa is really good as it is not drying like many soaps. The Organic Macerated Carrot oil was a godsend on our recent trip to Tenerife. It was great at deeply rehydrating my skin after a day at the beach, in the sea/pool and post mask-wearing/plane air conditioning. The Organic orange blossom Hydrolate has been the least used of the 6 items only because despite not reacting to it, anything blossom related, leaves me a little nervous given my pollen allergy.
So whether you have problematic skin or normal to combination skin, if you are after a skincare brand that carefully considers every ingredient, which offers pared-back simple, organic and vegan friendly skincare that really ‘packs a punch’, head over to visit Typology. You wont be disappointed!

Thanks for a really informative blog Jem. I love the company’s ethos using products to minimise planet damage. The products sound lush and knowing they’ve helped a fellow eczema/TSW sufferer gives a girl hope they may work for me. I’ll definitely be testing them out in the future. Take care x
