How to wear Mules this summer

June 10, 2020 Jemma 3 min read 2 Comments

Let’s face it, Summer 2020 isn’t going to plan. Those outfits that we’ve planned and saved for our summer holiday will just have to be worn here…  We can still be the style queens that we are, just on home turf! Mules will help keep our style A-game strong! They are everywhere at the moment. Teamed with last years buffet dresses or this seasons tailored shorts, either way they will bring instant 2020 style to your outfit. Want to know how to wear mules this summer?!! Read on…

The ‘Flat’ mule

Flat mules are a very ‘easy wear’ option. They will bring any outfit up to date whilst being totally practical for those everyday ‘lockdown’ tasks… You know, those all-important trips to the supermarket, walking the dog etc etc ;).  They are perfect for those cooler summer days when you throw on a pair of jeans and a top! Whether opened or closed-toe, flat mules are a classic shoe style that is very unlikely to ‘go out of fashion!’.

Mid-heel mules

The ‘Mid’ or ‘Low’ heeled mule is perfect for those BBQ’s & small garden parties that we are now allowed to attend! (Come on sun, come back!) They add just enough ‘dressy edge’ without going ‘all out’ with a skyscraper heel! Whether worn with a mid-length floaty dress, a vest-style bodysuit and a wide leg trouser or thrown on with a pair of tailored knee-length shorts, they will look gorgeous!   I love them styled with a  wrap-midi dress. Subtle yet stylish high-heeled mules

Spring/Summer 2020 has given us plenty of variety in the mule department with the high-heeled mule seemingly being a firm favourite with many ‘fashion-savvy’ ladies.  There are so many styles to choose from online at the moment. The main trend seems to be the Bottega inspired quilted and plaited mule. They are a type of shoe that I’d personally call a classic, that is doubtful to date. A subtle tan colour will also stand the test of time and allow for plenty of wear as will go with endless outfit choices.  The heeled mule is perfect for dressing up an otherwise casual outfit. Pop them on with a casual cargo trouser and you will add instant dressy-edge! These are by far my favourites. I do love a high heel (I just don’t get to wear them nearly enough these days!)

White screams summer!

Whether it’s a pair of white jeans, white wide-leg trousers or a white blazer… there’s no doubt that year on year, white is the colour of summer.  The online highstreet is a wash with white mule options so footwear is no exception!! Open toed or closed, high or flat…there is a white mule suited to everyone! The fab thing about opting for a white mule is that it will automatically ‘summerize’ ( is that a word?!?) any outfit! Check out some of my favourites here…
