Last week I was invited, along with a handful of other local bloggers to the Midsummer Place AW 21 style event. It was an opportunity for us to have a nosey around the ‘New-in’ sections with a few of the retailers as we head into the transitional phase from Summer to Autumn/Winter styling.
AD-Pr Invite – I was paid to attend the style event however am not obliged to write this blog post.
Midsummer Place Style Event 2021
Midsummer place (previously known as Intu MK) is a fabulous shopping centre which is celebrating it’s 21st birthday at the end of the month. It has a great variety of stores from Victorias Secrets to H&M, Superdry to Zara and many many more. There is no getting away from the fact that Covid lockdowns over the past 18 months has affected retail up and down the country and Milton Keynes was no exception with a few retailers closing down. However that bought new opportunities meaning exciting new things are in the pipeline at the newly renamed ‘Midsummer Place’ with highend retailers such as Tommy Hilfiger soon to be opening their doors in the centre! I can’t wait to have a mooch around that’s for sure!
Lets talk #AW21MK
The AW21mk event started with bubbles and goodies bags before we each had a sneak peek at the ‘new-in’ rails at Newlook Milton Keynes. As mentioned in my pattern and print style edit last week (which you can read here: How to wear pattern and print’), we will be seeing lots of patterns and prints this coming season. Newlook had lots of gorgeous patterns and prints in their new season range. From houndstooth jackets to green floral midi skirts and dresses, if you are into your patterns, AW21 won’t disappoint.
My Top picks from the #AW21MK style event
Padded puffas are back with a bang again this year, as let’s be honest last year there were lots of winter walks and garden meetups with the ‘rules of 6’ inplay and with the uncertainty surrounding this winter, we will need to be able to dress/wrap up for all occasions and a padded puffa will see you right!
I love this one that I saw at the Midsummer place AWF21 style event.
One item that I absolutely loved and still have my eye on is this little khaki padded jacket. It was a steal at £34.99 and is a nod to the ‘TheFrankieShop’ Teddy Quilted Jacket in Moss Green priced at 285 Euros but hella cheaper! Great if you are on a budget but want to be bang up to date.
Let’s talk footwear
Padded and ruched mules were everywhere last year with many being inspired by the high end Bogetta Venetta Lido. This season we see many variations of these from the highstreet so it was no surprise to see Newlook has some new ruched versions in black and nude which are made from vegan-friendly faux leather. They are a steal at only £23.99.
Chunky boots are still here to stay, only this year we see more colour ways to choose from like these fabulous white ones from Newlook with black contrasting details.
Victorias Secrets shared their new bra collections including their first-ever maternity bra which, for those expecting who don’t wish to compromise on beautiful underwear, is just perfect. Stylish, beautiful yet oh, so practical. What’s not to love?
Midsummer Place embracing the independants too!
As part of the event, we met the lovely ladies from independent company Shannon Grace Designs who were part of the Indie Collective; a store that opened in the shopping centre recently, showcasing a number of independent local companies and their gorgeous home decor, clothing and jewellery goods. As part of the style event, we each made a gold plated bead bracelet. I added my children’s initials on it and have received so many compliments about it already. Make sure to check them out!
We finished the Midsummer Place AW21 style event at Victorias Secrets where we were treated to a personalised bra fitting service. If you have not been in for a measurement ladies, you really should. There is no need for embarrassment as the ladies are so professional and make you feel so relaxed. They measure you (over your clothes) initially and then head out to the store to hand-select some bras that they feel will suit. You try them on and press the buzzer once you are done for them to check the fit. They write down all the ones you try on and then allow you to go out into the shop to select the bras in all the various colours, similar to the ones tried. It really is a great experience. So many women wear the wrong sized bras apparently so, come on girls. Go get measured.
The pale green bra that I took home was the Victoria’s Secret Lightly Lined Wireless Bra in green.
